Jillian McAfee

Jillian McAfee, ERYT-200 and Invoke Studio Manager, graduated from Indiana University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. Fitness has always been an integral part of Jillian’s life as she grew up dancing competitively and attended several conventions and intensives across the country. At a young age, she also found a love for teaching dance. Her love for teaching led her to discover her desire to help others live healthy lifestyles. She chose to pursue a career in fitness, which, to her, became the perfect blend of physical movement and working with others.
As a health nut and Personal Trainer, Jillian has dabbled in most forms of exercise. The physical challenges of yoga are what intrigued her initially, but she soon found a connection much deeper. Yoga is more than a workout; it is a daily practice with continuous growth, both physically and mentally. Jillian completed the 200 Hour Power Yoga Training at CorePower Yoga in December 2014, and teaches a high energy vinyasa class that leaves her students feeling strong and energized! Jillian is continuously grateful for the opportunity to educate her students and see their yoga practices grow!

 

Kara Brown

Kara's yoga practice began in Tampa Bay in 2007 after she graduated college and got her first job. She immediately fell in love with yoga at the first session. From there, she got a mat of her own, searched out studios and began attending classes. She found the more she practiced, the more stability, strength and positive energy it brought to her life off the mat. She was greatly influenced by the HUGE yoga community in St. Petersburg, FL, and yoga quickly became a way of life for her there. She sought out local workshops, events, and was a devoted member at The Body Electric Yoga Company as she practiced regularly under co-owner Kaitlyn Grady who helped inspire her dedicated love for a fun, but intense vinyasa flow and the mindset that yoga is for everyone! Since then, her home practice has grown very strong, she has relocated to Indianapolis and completed her 200 hour at Invoke in 2017. Kara's class goal is always to find a way to help her students gain strength mentally, physically, and emotionally on their mat that they are able to take with them off of the mat.

Tess Belden

Tess fell in love with Yoga when she attended IU Bloomington and found Vibe Yoga. The studio became her sanctuary where she could go to practice patience and relieve stress. She received her 100-Hour Intensive teacher certification at Vibe with Kai Trinh of CorePower Yoga in 2009, and her 200-Hour certification through Invoke’s Yoga Alliance Approved YTT in 2012. She also trained with Sonje Mayo and received her Peak Pilates certification in September 2013. Tess brings a lighthearted approach to her teaching and believes that everyone can benefit from the complementary practices of yoga and pilates.

Ahna Hoke

Ahna began practicing yoga in 1995 in her central Pennsylvania hometown. She has been teaching since 2001 and is a registered teacher with Yoga Alliance at the 500 hour level. Ahna has studied extensively at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Massachusetts, as well as in the style of Anusara Yoga. Over the years she has studied with many world renowned teachers receiving 1200 hours of training in different modalities of Hatha Yoga. The life affirming philosophy of Anusara Yoga along with its elegant principles of alignment have influenced her personal practice to become more graceful and heart centered. In addition, she has over 135 hour of advanced pranayama (yogic breathing) and meditation training and feels strongly that the breath is the link that brings the mind, body, and spirit together. With the practice of pranayama, proper alignment, and opening to the flow of life, she will lead you through a practice that is uplifting and strengthening, inviting the wisdom of your heart to direct you into a state of self awareness. Ahna's teachings are down to earth and include plenty of playfulness and humor. She has a deep passion for anatomy & physiology, meditation and pranayama and is the director and primary teacher of Invoke Yoga Studio's accredited 200 hour yoga teacher training program. She enjoys instructing beginners as well as advanced practitioners.
Vinyasa Yoga EXPRESS - Level 2 - Join us for a 55 minute (NON-heated) EXPRESS class. All levels are welcome. The instructor will present different options for the less experienced student and for the advanced yogi.
