Vinyasa Yoga - Level 2

This class is taught by:

Courtney Summitt

Courtney began her yoga practice in undergrad at IU Bloomington in 2011. She was drawn to the challenge and detoxing sweat of heated classes for physical health. She quickly fell in love with the mind body connection she experienced as her practice grew to a deeper level and embraced yoga as an essential part of her holistic wellness, stress management, and life balance. Courtney loves anatomy and working with how the body moves which led to her career as a physical therapist. She received her RYT 200 hour in 2018 and is excited to combine the passions of her work. She loves teaching, exploring new ideas/research, and assisting individuals in progressing toward their personal goals. In her yoga classes, you’ll find creative vinyasa flows with focus on alignment, muscle energy techniques, mind body connection, and breath work to promote systemic relaxation and balance. Courtney believes that yoga is for every body, and her goal for each class is that students leave feeling confident and empowered in the growth of their personal practice.

Tess Belden

Tess fell in love with Yoga when she attended IU Bloomington and found Vibe Yoga. The studio became her sanctuary where she could go to practice patience and relieve stress. She received her 100-Hour Intensive teacher certification at Vibe with Kai Trinh of CorePower Yoga in 2009, and her 200-Hour certification through Invoke’s Yoga Alliance Approved YTT in 2012. She also trained with Sonje Mayo and received her Peak Pilates certification in September 2013. Tess brings a lighthearted approach to her teaching and believes that everyone can benefit from the complementary practices of yoga and pilates.

Megan Zirkelbach

Megan began her yoga journey after having her daughter in 2006. She quickly realized yoga was more than just a physical exercise. It began to help her with the stress and anxiety of life, when she stepped off the mat she had inner peace that she couldn't explain. Megan has been practicing everyday since. During a meditation workshop she heard the instructor say "once you see, you'll eventually know" and from that point on Megan knew teaching yoga would be a part of her path. She received her 200 hrs YTT in April of 2014 at Sanctuary, Mind, Body, and Spirit under Tom and Daphne Larkin in Nashville, Tn. Her practice and teaching is a mix of vinyasa flow and the power of ashtanga yoga. She loves handstands and inversions but appreciates the beauty and fundamentals of all poses that are at the core of building strength and balance.

Laura Henderson

Laura seeks to honor the union of yoga on and off the mat in her classes. Her classes are fun, thoughtful, and her flows organize progressive elements and pose sequences toward a peak pose. Laura offers a space that is open and instructional, encouraging students to explore the balance between honoring where they are and challenging themselves. She hopes students leave class with a smile on their face, and a sense that somehow the time on their mat leaves them stronger and more open to face all the beauty, magic, and challenges that life holds. Laura’s first encounter with yoga was in a philosophy book, and it changed her life. Several years later in 2004, yoga became a life-saving practice when Laura lost her brother. Laura took to her mat daily to breathe and be in her body as a respite from her spinning mind and grieving heart. Exploring and building strength in her physical body helped her find deeper strength to live with and through grief. Learning to do poses she never imagined she could, gave her the courage to start her own non-profit to contribute to the change she wants to see in the world (Growing Places Indy, 2009). Still daily, her practice helps her cultivate strength, flexibility, adaptability, forgiveness, compassion, and a comfort with failure and discomfort that empower her continued growth as a mother, spouse, family, friend, co-worker, teacher, human. Laura’s own experiences of the power of yoga in her life are what drive her desire and commitment to teach. Laura completed her 200-hour YTT in vinyasa yoga in 2006, and completed prenatal teacher training in 2007. She has been teaching at Invoke since January 2007. Laura has also done numerous trainings with Off the Mat, Into the World, Embody Love Movement, Y12SR, and CTZNWELL. She continues to explore different styles, teachers, workshops, trainings, books and more, believing that a teacher must always remain a curious and committed student.

Danielle Vetter

Danielle started practicing yoga to compliment distance running in 2009. She loved the peace, stillness, and whole-body relaxation yoga brought. Danielle completed her 200 Hour Yoga Training in Indianapolis in January of 2015. Her classes are upbeat, athletic, and connect breath work with a strong physical practice. She hopes her classes will offer students a chance to find strength, a deeper understanding of their bodies, and balance and peace in their lives.

Off the mat, you can find Danielle hiking, boxing, or rocking out to a concert at White River State Park. Danielle holds a BS and MPA from Indiana University (Go Hoosiers).

Ahna Hoke

Ahna began practicing yoga in 1995 in her central Pennsylvania hometown. She has been teaching since 2001 and is a registered teacher with Yoga Alliance at the 500 hour level. Ahna has studied extensively at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Massachusetts, as well as in the style of Anusara Yoga. Over the years she has studied with many world renowned teachers receiving 1200 hours of training in different modalities of Hatha Yoga. The life affirming philosophy of Anusara Yoga along with its elegant principles of alignment have influenced her personal practice to become more graceful and heart centered. In addition, she has over 135 hour of advanced pranayama (yogic breathing) and meditation training and feels strongly that the breath is the link that brings the mind, body, and spirit together. With the practice of pranayama, proper alignment, and opening to the flow of life, she will lead you through a practice that is uplifting and strengthening, inviting the wisdom of your heart to direct you into a state of self awareness. Ahna's teachings are down to earth and include plenty of playfulness and humor. She has a deep passion for anatomy & physiology, meditation and pranayama and is the director and primary teacher of Invoke Yoga Studio's accredited 200 hour yoga teacher training program. She enjoys instructing beginners as well as advanced practitioners.

Cheryl Milton

Cheryl began her Yoga practice in 2001, after the birth of her first child Addison. At the time yoga was introduced to Cheryl she had just left a high-paced sales job to become a full time mom and was entering her seventh year teaching group fitness. Cheryl received her yoga training in Coastal Virginia. She trained with a focus in the tradition of the Hot Yoga Series and Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Cheryl was the Director and Lead Teacher for the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training program for Zen Hot Yoga Studio Virginia Beach, as well as the Founder and Lead Teacher for Passion Yoga School’s 2014 Yoga Teacher Training Program. She now leads Invoke's Yoga Alliance Certified 100 & 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Program at Invoke Wellness Center. Cheryl draws inspiration to teach and practice from her busy daily life: approaching her mat being open to explore, accept, reaffirm her passion for life and cultivate peace.
Vinyasa Yoga - Level 2 - All levels are welcome. The instructor will present different options for the less experienced student and for the advanced yogi.
