Human Variation & Yoga with Michelle Finch Sun, Nov 5, 2017 at 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

What's stopping you???

Our bones are all different. While many of us may be limited in our practice due to tension/tightness in our tissue (tension), an equal amount of us are limited in our practice due to our bone structure (compression). As both students and teachers of yoga, it is imperative that we understand the difference between these two ideas. No two of us look alike in physical appearance, so why should our yoga practice?

These workshops are open to both teachers and curious students who want to understand how they can best honor their own bodies and that of their students through the practice of yoga. We will unravel the theory behind Human Variation, perform various tests on our own bodies to see the great amount of uniqueness that exists in our local crowd and dive into how to develop a practice and teaching style that is inclusive of ALL bodies!

Investment $40

#fitandfestive: Holiday HIIT Workshop Series with Bailey Croke Sun, Nov 19, 2017 at 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

#fitandfestive: Holiday HIIT Workout Series

Who doesn't need an excuse to get some extra sweat time in through the holiday season? The temperatures start dropping, layers start increasing, tasty treats are everywhere and holiday craziness can interfere with your regular schedule. #fitandfestive is a holiday themed workout series to give you a fun extra boost to achieve and maintain your fitness goals through the holiday season. Each class will consist of a 75 minute total body cardio sculpt sweat fest that combines the toning principles of Pilates and barre mixed with high intensity interval training and strength/resistance training. Each month will build upon the previous class to provide a better understanding of both static and dynamic movement, how it applies in exercises and how it can be used to increase endurance, strength, balance and power. Each participant will be provided with a 40 minute "at home" workout that can be easily completed on the road for the holidays or at home. In a typical fast paced class, we don’t dive into the details of form and function so a brief 10 minutes will be spent discussing how to apply these to your own workouts. Participants are encouraged to participate in the entire #fitandfestive series, however, can be completely independently.

#basic: September 23rd at 2PM-3:30PM
Because it all starts with pumpkin spice everything. #basic will set up the foundation of your holiday workouts, building awareness of proper alignment and muscle activation for foundational exercises, reinforced by strength training in a high rep low intensity model and applied through cardiovascular interval training.

#tricksortreats: October 22nd at 2PM-3:30PM
Fun sized kit-kat bars, enough said. #tricksortreats will continue to build on proper form and alignment through stabilization exercises and transitions and work toward further increasing muscular and cardiovascular endurance in a high rep low intensity model.

#thankful: November 19th at 2PM-3:30PM
Feel more thankful and less guilty about all the turkey, the naps and the holiday movie marathons with another 75 minute serious sweat session. #thankful will turn it up a notch using the stability and endurance established at the beginning of the series, we'll add a little more intensity by playing around with tempo and speed in a low rep high intensity model.

#winteriscoming: December 17th at 2PM-3:30PM
It's getting colder outside so let's burn it up inside for the last class of the holiday series. #winteriscoming is the last total body burn class of the series and your last chance to push your endurance and strength through 75 minutes of high intensity interval training.

PLEASE SIGN UP FOR THIS CLASS UNDER THE CLASS SCHEDULE TAB! PRE-REGISTRATION SUGGESTED!

Join Ahna for a special candlelight winter solstice class. For centuries, winter solstice has been a time of reflection. In this class we'll take a moment to ponder and honor the past year and what you want to let go of. We'll set intentions for the coming year and celebrate as we prepare for the return of light.

Come prepared to use asana as a way to rejuvenate and energize yourself during this busy holiday season. Class will end with two restorative poses, a meditation, and savasana.

Human Variation & Yoga with Michelle Finch Sun, Jan 7, 2018 at 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Chakras and Singing Bowls with Ahna Hoke Sun, Jan 14, 2018 at 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

The word charka is Sanskrit for wheel or disk and signifies one of seven basic subtle energy centers in the body. The chakras are key to physical health, emotional stability and mental clarity. Through stress and the pressures of daily life the chakra system can become unbalanced. This two-hour class will focus on gaining a better awareness and understanding of each chakra and how it influences your life.

Ahna will begin with a short discussion of the chakra system. Jim Trofatter will offer some information about the vibrational healing powers of the singing bowls. Ahna will then lead a 90-minute asana practice accompanied by the seven unique corresponding chakra bowls. The asana sequence will be specific to opening, aligning and balancing each chakra consecutively from the root chakra through the crown chakra. Class will end with a meditation and restorative savasana pose.
