Ahna Hoke

Ahna began practicing yoga in 1995 in her central Pennsylvania hometown. She has been teaching since 2001 and is a registered teacher with Yoga Alliance at the 500 hour level. Ahna has studied extensively at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Massachusetts, as well as in the style of Anusara Yoga. Over the years she has studied with many world renowned teachers receiving 1200 hours of training in different modalities of Hatha Yoga. The life affirming philosophy of Anusara Yoga along with its elegant principles of alignment have influenced her personal practice to become more graceful and heart centered. In addition, she has over 135 hour of advanced pranayama (yogic breathing) and meditation training and feels strongly that the breath is the link that brings the mind, body, and spirit together. With the practice of pranayama, proper alignment, and opening to the flow of life, she will lead you through a practice that is uplifting and strengthening, inviting the wisdom of your heart to direct you into a state of self awareness. Ahna's teachings are down to earth and include plenty of playfulness and humor. She has a deep passion for anatomy & physiology, meditation and pranayama and is the director and primary teacher of Invoke Yoga Studio's accredited 200 hour yoga teacher training program. She enjoys instructing beginners as well as advanced practitioners.


Ahna Hoke instructs the following:
  • Vinyasa Yoga - Level 2
  • Vinyasa Yoga - Level 2 - All levels are welcome. The instructor will present different options for the less experienced student and for the advanced yogi. Vinyasa, a style of yoga, is a flowing sequence of asanas that ties movement with breath. Invoke’s dynamic vinyasa focuses on the flow, strength and power of the practice. 

  • Free Meditation/ Pranayama Half Hour
  • Meditation/ Pranayama half hour session. Stick around after the 1 hour all levels class as part of your class session or drop into the half hour session for free.

  • HEATED Vinyasa Yoga - Level 2
  • HEATED Vinyasa Yoga - Level 2 - Join Invoke for an invigorating and detoxifying heated vinyasa class. Be prepared to sweat it all out during our athletic flow in the heated and humidified studio. Bring a towel and be sure to hydrate yourself before and after class! This is an open to all levels class.

  • Vinyasa Yoga - Level 1/2
  • Vinyasa Yoga - Level 1/2 - This is a basic or slower paced class that is perfect for beginners or those that prefer a slow flow. This class is for all levels regardless of how long you've been practicing as you can never know the basics too well. Whether you are a seasoned and dedicated yogi, a beginner who is brand new or an advanced beginner who has been coming to basics classes but does not feel quite confident enough to move up to an All Levels format, this class offers multiple benefits for all. Although this class will move with a flow it will be a slower flow so the student has ample time to move into and out of the pose effectively keeping the stability that is often lost when the flow becomes too fast. You will enjoy a great selection of poses with fun and interesting sequences, multiple alignment cues but also extended periods of silence once in the pose to allow reconnection with your breath, body and spirit. Come to breathe, move, open and smile.

  • 100 & 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Info Session
  • Join us for a FREE information session for anyone interested in, or curious about, the 2019 Invoke 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training. This will be your opportunity to meet the instructors and get any questions you may have answered.

    We will also cover the 100-hour in-depth studies course during this session.

  • WARM Vinyasa Yoga - Level 2
  • WARM Vinyasa Yoga - Level 2 - All levels are welcome. The instructor will present different options for the less experienced student and for the advanced yogi. Vinyasa, a style of yoga, is a flowing sequence of asanas that ties movement with breath. Invoke’s dynamic vinyasa focuses on the flow, strength and power of the practice. The temperature in the Warm Vinyasa class will be set between 82-86 degrees. 

  • Vinyasa Yoga EXPRESS - Level 2
  • Vinyasa Yoga EXPRESS - Level 2 - Join us for a 55 minute (NON-heated) EXPRESS class. All levels are welcome. The instructor will present different options for the less experienced student and for the advanced yogi.

  • $10 HEATED Community Yoga - Level 2
  • Join Invoke for an invigorating and detoxifying heated vinyasa class. Be prepared to sweat it all out during our athletic flow in the heated and humidified studio. Bring a towel and be sure to hydrate yourself before and after class! An invoke Community class is same amazing Invoke class at a rate that is accessible and affordable to the entire yoga & pilates community. Please feel free to use a regular package or pay the low $10 rate.

  • Asana Junkies
  • 2-1/2 Hour Intermediate/Advanced Class with Ahna Hoke, RYT500

    This workshop is designed for yogis wanting to dive deeper into the practice of yoga. We begin with a brief Dharma talk (yoga philosophy and how it’s applied to daily living) and pranayama to maximize your experience and create clarity of mind. Focus, fun and dedication drive the asana portion of class. Precise biomechanical techniques are integrated in order to optimally open and strengthen your body so that you can explore more intermediate to advanced poses, and interesting variations.

    This extended class will utilize and enhance your strength and flexibility leaving you feeling empowered and refreshed. The only pre-requisite is the desire to experiment and develop your practice. It is highly recommended you have a healthy base knowledge of asana. Class ends with a sweet rewarding savasana.

     

    November focus: Arm balancing, hip openers and twists. The dragonfly family.
