Mary Herrera

Mary started Pilates as a way to break up her fitness routine and intense nights at the library during college. After graduating from IUPUI, she suffered a leg injury during a soccer game that challenged her mobility for almost 9 months. Once recovered, Mary came back to Pilates as a way to regain her strength, balance, and flexibility. Falling in love with Pilates all over again and finding a new love for barre, Mary went on to get her Bar Effect Certification in 2015 and Peak Pilates Basic Mat Certification in 2016. Mary is excited to continue her journey with Pilates equipment in 2017.

Mary Herrera instructs the following:
  • Pilates Mat - Level 1/2
  • Pilates Mat - Level 1/2 - Our group pilates mat classes strengthen your core strength, the key to good posture and a healthy back. We combine traditional pilates mat exercises with other fun strength and flexibility moves to focus on firming and toning your body. Open to all levels.

  • Quad Reformer (open, 4 max) ***Must have prior reformer experience***
  • Prerequisite: At least one private reformer session or past reformer experience.
    Pilates reformers are specialized piece of equipment that allows students to work out using spring resistance. This conditioning method develops core abdominal and back strength by working from the inside out, helping you build optimal strength, flexibility, endurance and posture, without building bulk or stressing your joints.

    This class is open to all levels. Maximum of 4 students per class.

    Prerequisite: At least one private reformer session or past reformer experience.

  • Pilates Fundamentals - Level 1/2
  • Pilates fundamentals covers the traditional pilates exercises developed by Joseph Pilates. The class is designed for all levels with building blocks offered to those new to pilates. Experienced students will be challenged with advanced variations of exercises. All students will benefit from the focus on alignment and postural cues. The class utlizes pilates rings, therabands, and handweights for some exercises.
