What is Pilates?
Pilates is a method of conditioning that strengthens the core muscles to support the movements of the arms, legs, and torso. When executed under the proper guidance of a well trained instructor, pilates will sculpt the body by developing all muscles uniformly so that smaller and larger muscle groups work together to move the body with greater power, balance, coordination, flexibility, and grace. Pilates has been found to give extraordinary results to individuals ranging from seasoned athletes to the sedentary office worker that has never exercised in his or her life! At Invoke, we offer both group mat classes along with pilates equipment sessions.

Pilates Reformer/Equipment Sessions: Pilates equipment sessions challenge the strongest of athletes, but can also offer support and extra guidance for the pilates novice who finds mat classes challenging.  Because these personalized sessions are booked in privates or duets, the guidance of an instructor will help you reach your fitness goals and "go deeper" in your body more quickly than in a group class setting.  Learn how to work your own body to become a faster runner, improve that golf swing, or get into that tough arm balance you've been wanting to do in your yoga class for so long!
 
At Invoke, we have reformers, tower units, and chairs, for a fun variety of exercises taught by well-trained instructors. Classes are 55 minutes in length, but don't worry- it is so fun, you might forget you are actually exercising and will wonder how the hour flies by so quickly! 
 
Pilates Equipment Work During Pregnancy:  Invoke also utilizes the Pilates Arc™  (this has a trademark) tfor prenatal clients on our equipment so that pregnant clients may be more upright in a more supportive position throughout the session.  Pilates equipment work during pregnancy can help keep your body strong, reduce discomfort in areas such as the lower back, and keep your workouts interesting and fun!
 
Mat Classes: Pilates mat classes focus on the basic pilates principles with the assistance of small props such as rings, balls, bands, and weights, for a fun and creative hour-long workout.  Our open level classes are tailored to challenge a variety of fitness levels, so all are welcome! 
 
Intro to Pilates is a workshop designed for the beginning student and for those who want a deeper understanding of Joseph Pilates’ system of exercise. Meeting the first four Monday evenings of each month, the first class begins with basic principles of alignment, core strengthening and form. Each sequential class builds upon the first. Come experience the long, lean, toned body and refreshed mind that Pilates offers! The $55 series includes four workshop classes plus a FREE class to be used toward a regular Pilates mat class.
